If you are entering into any type of business with another person or business, there are certain legal forms and contracts that you need to be aware of and go through to properly protect yourself from being taken advantage of.

• Working contracts. Any time you do business with someone for a period of time, you should draw up some form of legal working contract. This contract would include the terms of the agreement, including what work is involved, a timetable for completion, and the compensation that will be awarded during its completion.
• Renter’s agreements. Very common. As you rent an apartment, you are liable for damage sustained to the apartment within reason. The landlord is responsible for maintenance and working components of the apartment. The rental agreement also states whether the tenant pays certain bills, such as heat, or if the landlord is responsible for payment of those bills. A renter’s agreement must be read very carefully to make sure you know who is responsible for what.
• Most government activity. Especially when it pertains to finances, there is a plethora of legal forms and contracts for you to properly deal with the government. This can deal with paying taxes or dealing with government property, among other things. As a citizen of the United States, you need to be aware of what forms or contracts you may need in your dealings within this country.
